74+ Iraqis In Prayer Killed + 8 Die In 2 Car Bombings

Good morning,

I had a feeling last night before I went to bed that there was going to be a large scale killing of Iraqi's today. The last few days have been too quiet.

This morning, as Iraqi's were in the middle of their prayers in the Shiite, Sheik Murad mosque located near the Iranian border in a primairly Kurdish community , a man girdled in an explosive belt flipped his switch, and conducted his personal act of ultimate Martyrdom. The man casually walked in the mosque, planted himself in a crowded area and the next thing you know the roof caved in, and body parts littered and mixed with shreds of the Quran. 74+ people were killed and 150 injured in that attack.

In a seperate attack, this one in Baghdad, a pair of martyr car bombers blew themselves and their Fords up just outside a hotel which houses primairly western journalists. Eight Iraqi's were killed in those blasts. I don't have a count yet, as to how many were injured. The protective supposedly bomber proof wall which guarded the hotel was effective in keeping the occupants safe, however outside the wall houses burned and people either sleeping or just up for their morning coffee, were blown to smitherines.
The bomber strategy was to open a hole in the wall by the first blast, and then the second car (with even stronger explosive capacity) would breach the wall, get right up next to the hotel and flip his own switch. Fortunately for the people inside the hotel, the hole made by the first explosion was too small for the second car to get through.

If you are an Iraqi citizen, or someone stupid enough to go to Iraq, you quickly learn that when you hear an explosion, you need to hit the deck and stay down because it is likely that a second explosion will occur.

Have a nice day.
