Iraqi Moms

It is that time of the year again, Mother's Day. If you are a mom in Iraq, you probably know someone who has been killed or injured. You have probably lost a son, daughter, husband, friend, family member because of the non-stopping and virtually unstopable murder that is going on in your country, brought on by the US occupation. Mom's here do not understand your difficulty, nor do most even really care. That sounds horrible, but honestly, I don't think that people here really care about what your life has really been like, as a mom, for so many years now.

Here is an accounting by Iraq Body Count from the last week.

Saturday 9 May: 5 dead
Baghdad: roadside bomb kills Awakening member and bodyguard, Taji.

Mosul: US forces kill 12-year-old Salwan Ado Iesho, after man throws grenade at patrol; gunmen kill 2 policemen.

Wednesday 6 May: 20 dead
Baghdad: bombs, gunmen kill 19.

Mosul: roadside bomb kills 11-year-old boy.
Tuesday 5 May: 4 dead
Baghdad: Iraqi forces kill Sahwa member.
